PICTURE OF THE WEEK (from sdgonline.org):

O restless girl, don’t delay. Fill Your jar and go home
while Krishna’s flute does not recite its mantra charm.

PICTURE OF THE WEEK (from sdgonline.org):

When, in Vrindavana forest, which is glorified
by the Yamuna’s touch,
will I constantly wander, filled with the
longings of love,
loudly chanting the transcendental pastimes
of Gokula’s king, Krishna,
and thickly sprinkling the trees with streams
of tears from my eyes.

Heavens to Betsy!

“Heavens to Betsy! I can’t slow
down enough to say I’m cold and the
stars are out. They never went to the moon–
even one star, although millions exist. How can
they say there is no life? I swam warm summers
in the canal behind my parents’ home in
Avalon and looked up into the immense distance
in the summer of ’66. O Swamiji,
I hear your voice even in my parental home,
I want no more LSD, and no more to identify with the
body. He had an oceanic smile, but
the Harvard grad student couldn’t see it.
No. We live in our own world of swami adulation. We couldn’t expect them
to follow us.”

Sanatorium by SDG

I just learned that Sid Ceasar
will be "live" on Larry
King Live
tonight but
it's 10 P.M. I have to
pee now and chant japa.
Harer nama harer nama.

I wish my urge to chant
was like my urge to pee-
I'd be a mahatma.

Fear Over Love

by Satsvarupa das Goswami

I think this is it, but
I'm not sure it sounds
like "Ornithology." *

They turn to the master
and your Higher Power (as
in Twelve Steps) will help you climb out
of the anxiety gutter.

Don't be afraid your
girl will leave you and you'll
be with God.

O God, I want You as
my lover but I don't know
if I'll ever get that far.

They say your to love to overcome fear
is through warm buckets
of water.

And be a tilaked
man who attacks
the canvas with a gentle
passion. Let the
mobiles hang gracefully
like men on Mars and Svarga
and in Yudhisthira's court.

* "Ornithology", a jazz composition by Charlie Parker.
Here is a link to hear the tune; http://archive.org/details/Ornithology

The Spiritualization of Energy

by Hayagriva Das Brahmachary
(Howard Wheeler)

"The world is charg'd with the grandeur of God . . . ."
—Gerard Manly Hopkins

(Mantra to be sung at the top of your lungs to whatever tune you like from dawn to dawn to dawn without cessation forever and ever and ever into eternity.)

HARE KRISHNA, HARE KRISHNA
KRISHNA KRISHNA
HARE HARE, HARE RAMA
HARE RAMA, RAMA RAMA
HARE HARE
All that we ever see
Is God's blissful energy.
O God's blissful energy!
O God's blissful energy!
God's blissful energy
All just for you and me.
O God's blissful energy.
Blissful, blissful energy!
Wipe your eyes
So you can see,
Blow your cool,
Don't play the fool—
Can't you see?
We're His very
E N E R G Y
Energy!
Sing it, shout it,
Tell the entire
World about it.

Chant it, rant it!
Dance, enhance it.
Don't sit and sigh,
Let's all get high.
Don't feel morose,
Have a double dose
Of
Energy!
Energy!
It's always, always
ALWAYS free!
FREE! FREE!
Don't be suspect,
It's direct
From God to thee,
And it's FREE!
ENERGY! E N E R G Y!
Blissful, blissful
E N E R G Y!
HARE KRISHNA! HARE KRISHNA!
KRISHNA! KRISHNA!
HARE! HARE! HARE RAMA!
HARE RAMA! RAMA! RAMA!
HARE! HARE!

"'Hare' means 'the energy of the Lord.' So when we sing 'Hare Krishna,' we are saying, 'O Lord, O the wonderful energy of the Lord, O Lord please accept me who am no more than the straw in the street.'"—- Swami Bhaktivedanta

Ferris Wheel

Taking her shirt off
the old girl said

I marched in Chicago
so we could wear pants
saw Beatles and the
west coast noise fest

went skipping after Ferris
only to damn his wheel

You yourself danced with
Krishna's Deadheads
played gospel music in
a rock and roll band

Now look at us
Cheap beer and
emphysema

Hari-Nama Man

Good japa is the goal
of a satisfied life. It’s
such a simple yet
elusive thing. All you have
to do is clear your mind of
distractions and concentrate
on softly, gently, reverently
reciting Hare, Krishna and Rama.
We have made our lives so
cluttered with other things
that we can’t take simple
pleasure in the single most
important thing. But some
days are better and you
have a dawn of hope that
you could become a hari–
nama man.
