SLOKA OF THE DAY:

Bhagavad Gita As It Is -
Chapter 7 Text 3

manusyanam sahasresu
kascid yatati siddhaye
yatatam api siddhanam
kascin mam vetti tattvatah

manusyanam-- of men; sahasresu--out of many thousands; kascit--someone; yatati--endeavors; siddhaye--for perfection; yatatam--of those so endeavoring; api--indeed; siddhanam--of those who have achieved perfection; kascit--someone; mam--Me; vetti--does know; tattvatah--in fact.

TRANSLATION

Out of many thousands among men, one may endeavor for perfection, and of those who have achieved perfection, hardly one knows Me in truth.

JOURNAL:

The math here works. Srila Prabhupada, the pure devotee, comes and spreads Krishna Consciencness around the world. One in a thousand (if that many) who hear him take up the process and have success at different stages. According to this sloka there are those who will attain "perfection" but still not know Krishna "in truth". For this reason I have no problem with a GBC running ISKCON. Let the peer group elect those it sees as close to "perfection" and stop worrying about finding the next "pure devotee". We need to trust Srila Prabhupada and the way he set up the management of ISKCON. If we can't trust Lord Krishna's pure devotee who can we trust?
