TRANSLATION

I am never manifest to the foolish and unintelligent. For them I am covered by My internal potency, and therefore they do not know that I am unborn and infallible.

JOURNAL:

Srila Prabhupada writes in his purport; It may be argued that since Krsna was present on this earth and was visible to everyone, then why isn't He manifest to everyone now? But actually He was not manifest to everyone. When Krsna was present there were only a few people who could understand Him to be the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

The difference between the images of Krishna and those of Lord Jesus is extreme. One is God laughing and dancing with His friends and devotees and the other is a serious looking man whose is almost always suffering. Outside of a few pictures of Jesus with children you almost never see Him portrayed as smiling.

My guess is that people prefer an image of God suffering because they are suffering. The devotees live lives that are much more austere and yet they are happier and more committed to their values than most (but not all) of the Christians I know.

Even though there is only one God it seems to me that you are what you worship.
