SLOKA OF THE DAY:

Bhagavad Gita As It Is -
Chapter 1 Text1
dhrtarastra uvaca
dharma-ksetrekuru-ksetre
samaveta yuyutsavah
mamakah pandavas caiva
kim akurvata sanjaya

dhrtarastrah uvaca--King Dhrtarastra said; dharma-ksetre--in the place of pilgrimage; kuru-ksetre--in the place named Kuruksetra; samavetah--assembled; yuyutsavah--desiring to fight; mamakah--my party (sons); pandavah--the sons of Pandu; ca--and; eva--certainly; kim--what; akurvata--did they do; sanjaya--O Sanjaya.

TRANSLATION

Dhrtarastra said: O Sanjaya, after my sons and the sons of Pandu assembled in the place of pilgrimage at Kuruksetra, desiring to fight, what did they do?

Introduction

The Bhagavad Gita is a sacred Hindu scripture, considered among the most important texts in the history of literature and philosophy. The Bhagavad Gita comprises roughly 700 verses, and is a part of the Mahabharata.

The content of the Gita is the conversation between Krishna and Arjuna taking place on the battlefield before the start of the Kurukshetra war. Responding to Arjuna's moral dilemma about fighting his own cousins, Krishna explains to Arjuna his duties as a warrior and elaborates on different Yogic and Vedantic philosophies, with examples and analogies. This has led to the Gita often being described as a concise guide to Hindu theology and also as a practical, self-contained guide to life. (Wikipedia)

Prema (divine love), the fruit of the creeper of bhakti, grows on the creeper only when she attains to the feet of Krsna.
